Globfield International is seeking a highly qualified Commodity Manager to oversee the procurement, transportation, storage, and distribution of agricultural commodities for a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) McGovern-Dole International Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program. The Commodity Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and compliant handling of U.S.-provided commodities and locally procured food supplies to support a large-scale school feeding initiative over a 60-month project duration with an anticipated budget of $25 million.
The anticipated objectives of this project include:
· Ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement and delivery of commodities to support school feeding programs.
· Maintaining high standards of food safety, storage, and inventory management in compliance with USDA/FAS regulations.
· Coordinating transportation logistics to ensure seamless distribution from ports to schools, minimizing losses and inefficiencies.
· Strengthening local market engagement and supply chains to support sustainability and local procurement strategies.
Key responsibilities:
· Oversee commodity procurement, transportation, and storage logistics, ensuring compliance with USDA/FAS guidelines.
· Manage stock inventory systems, tracking stock levels, distribution schedules, and commodity handling procedures.
· Coordinate with government agencies, local suppliers, transport companies, and warehouse managers for efficient operations.
· Implement food safety and quality assurance protocols, including fumigation, warehousing, and handling standards.
· Develop risk management strategies to minimize losses and prevent spoilage, ensuring accountability in supply chains.
· Conduct ration calculations to ensure appropriate food distribution and nutritional adequacy for program beneficiaries.
· Ensure compliance with cargo preference requirements, import regulations, and food safety standards.
· Supervise commodity distribution, ensuring timely delivery of food supplies to schools while maintaining food safety standards.
· Support market studies and local procurement planning, strengthening vendor relationships and price competitiveness.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, agriculture, or a related field.
· Minimum of 7 years of experience managing commodity procurement, warehousing, or logistics in development programs.
· Proven experience handling large-scale food distribution and supply chain coordination.
· Knowledge of USDA/FAS regulations, procurement policies, and international food assistance logistics.
· Strong understanding of inventory control, warehouse management, and food safety compliance.
· Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills with vendors, transporters, and government agencies.
· Fluency in both French and English is required.
